BAIRD, Thomas Allen, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, age 79 years.  Tom was born September 7, 1945, in Bay City, MI to parents John and Virginia Baird.  Tom grew up in Bay City and graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1963.  He pursued higher education at Delta College graduating in 1966 before moving to Western Michigan University earning his BBA in 1969 and BS in 1977.  He began his military career at the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in June 1970.  Later in 1980, he was appointed as a Captain in the U.S Army where he continued to excel and graduated from the prestigious US. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course in 1988.  Tom proudly retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel August 31, 1977.  He married Joyce Ann Dardas November 24, 1978.  He is survivd by his wife, Joyce, son, Jeffey Alan Baird, grandchildren, Ariana, Alexandria, Miranda and Kaitlyn Baird; great-grandchildren Christine Olivia and Mayson James; siblings Jack (Linda) Baird, Tim (Joyce) Baird, Pat (Ginny) Jacobs, and Bill (Lorna) Baird, brother-in-law Daniel Schmidt along with many nieces, nephews, and best friends, Jim A. and Steve P.  Besides the passing of his parents, his sister, Jill Schmidt and father and mother in law, Alex and Phyllis (Szalkowski) Dardas.  Tom's family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am.  Interment and military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.  Memorial contributiuons may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project.  Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
