HUGHES, Sandra Kay Steinhoff, passed away March 4, 2020.  Sandra was born on February 28, 1945 to Wayne and Virginia (Hall) Steinhoff.  In 1963, she graduated from Bay City Handy High School.  She married Donald F. Hughes on December 14, 1968.  They have two sons, Jeffery A. Hughes of Essexville, MI and Robert F. Hughes of Fairgrove, MI.  They resided in Omer, MI from 1977 until 2016.  She was preceeded in death by both her parents, step-father Frank Shimunec, brothers DeWayne (Sharon) Steinhoff, Richard (Joann) Steinhoff and John (Ellen) Steinhoff, and sisters, LaDoris (Kip) Fuller, Carol (Lyle) Sylvester, Virginia (Lester) Behmlander and Judy (Ervin) Kuch.  Sandy was always known as the mother figure for all who spent time with her; her nieces, nephews and grandchildren were always drawn by her love and ability to have fun and a great time.  She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald Hughes; sons Jeffery Hughes and Robert (Martha) Hughes, her sister Sally (Dan) Sylvester, brother-in-law Ervin (Judy) Kuch, sisters in-law Sharon (DeWayne) Steinhoff and Ellen (John) Steinhoff, as well as many nieces, nephews and three granchildren.  She was cremated.  A memorial service and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
