James A. MacDonald, passed away November 23, 2018 at Health Source Saginaw, age 73 years. He was born July 17, 1945 to the late Harold & Elva (Ingram) MacDonald. He married Kathleen Barnett on December 21, 1968, married 49 years. He was a member of Kawkawlin Community Church, he worked 41-1/2 years at General Motors; served in the U.S. Navy and spent two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a car enthusiast and learned Tae Kwon Do earning a 3rd degree in Black Belt. He also enjoyed volunteering at his church, singing in the choir, coaching youth sports and playing the piano. He is survived by his wife, Kathy, daughter, Jennifer (Marcus) Hamilton; son, James (Rebecca) MacDonald, grandchildren, Spencer, Gavin, Keaton and Cooper Hamilton and Remmi and Noah MacDonald; brother, Jerry (Diane) MacDonald, brothers-in-law, William (Sherry) Barnett and Lindsey Spurlock; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nadine Slusser; brothers, Lennon and Paul MacDonald; nephews, Brian, Nathaniel, Kenneth and Michael; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosalind (William) Clark, Janice Spurlock and Francis Barnett and father and mother-in-law, Francis and Sophia Barnett. Funeral service is planned for December 1, 2018 at Kawkawlin Community Church with Rev. Charles Campbell officiating, followed by a military graveside service under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council at Floral Gardens Cemetery, Bay City, MI.
