Jerald Fritz

PFC Jerald D. "Jerry" Fritz, U.S. Marine Corps., was born on June 7, 1945.  He was killed in action near Quang Nam province, Vietnam on June 30, 1966, at age 21 years.  His death resulted from multiple fragmentation wounds received during hostile action.  Jerry served as a Rifleman with the 3rd Marine Divn., 2nd Battallion, 9th Marines, H Company.  Jerry's ultimate sacrifice will be eternally remembered at the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. where his name is inscribed on Panel 08e, Line 111.  For his service to our country and the Marine Corps., Jerry was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.  He was laid to rest at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery in Bay City, MI 48708.

So sad when I read about Jerry’s death in 1966.  We learned to drive together and became friends.  So glad that he is now recognized as a great hero for making the ultimate sacrifice for our Country.  I found his name on the Wall in DC many years ago.
